Stirling Castle, Scotland – I believe this to be the best viewpoint for photographing the castle. Parts of the castle date back to the 14th Century. Mary Queen of Scots was crowned here.
Dunrobin Castle, Golspie, Scotland – The largest house in the Scottish Highlands, with a keep that dates back to the 13th Century. It was remodelled in the 1840s by the architect who designed the Houses of Parliament in London. It is certainly imposing.
Scone Palace, Perth, Scotland – It was in this atmospheric palace that many of the Scottish kings were crowned, including Robert the Bruce.
Dunnottar Castle, Stonehaven, Scotland – Dramatic, medieval, ruined, cliff-top fortress. Once home to one of the most powerful families in Scotland. Prepare for a bit of a climb! Nothing much to see from within, but lots of photographic opportunities on the walk up to the castle.
