Wondrous (Isle of) Wight

  • Osborne House, situated in East Cowes, was built between 1845 and 1851 for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert as a summer home. Prince Albert designed the house himself in the style of an Italian Renaissance palazzo. If you visit, be sure to see the children’s vegetable plots and the Swiss Cottage in the grounds.
  • Alum Bay is well known for its multi-coloured sand cliffs and stunning views across the Solent. Many homes around the world have a glass object filled with this sand. I certainly do.  I have never seen such a variety of colour.  It is good to get a boat and view the cliffs and the Needles from the sea.  This photograph is quite different to the photographs usually taken.
  • Godshill is a quiet little village. The church photographed here is medieval. Do also visit the model village if you go to Godshill.
  • Shanklin Old Village – This is very much a chocolate box type photograph. This village, part of Shanklin town, is a perfect place to spend a leisurely afternoon.
